BALH’s purpose is to encourage and assist the study of Local History as an academic discipline and as a rewarding leisure pursuit for both individuals and groups.
The museum has a collection of photographs and documents of local interests and these may be made available to researchers by prior arrangement with the curator. Please contact the museum for further enquiries. The Museum has a large collection of ceramics and glass from the later part of the nineteenth century through to the present day. It houses the Royston Tapestry which is an ongoing project. There is also an extensive art collection including works by the local artist E.H. Whydale.
The 91st Bomber Group (USAF) was based at Bassingbourn, a few miles north of Royston. The site contains stories and memories of pilots and ground crew from WW2.
The Royston and Saffron Walden National Trust Association is a voluntary association of National Trust Members and was founded in 1985 to promote and prosper the work of the National Trust.
